If you’re not using Discord’s Update feature to update Better Discord, you’ll want to check the files yourself after each major release for any files that may have been added or removed from their originals inside your abdata*. This is located at C:\Users\*User Name*\AppData\Local\BetterDiscord. If you’re having issues with Better Discord after uninstalling it, try deleting all of your saved stuff inside the ‘state’ folder. Just remove the file and it’ll reinstall! Easy enough, no need to do anything else on your part! You should be good to go again! If you’re still having problems though, make sure you restore your backed up abdata* file and that you didn’t miss any files when uninstalling Better Discord. Reinstalling Discord after Better Discord is uninstalled (Drag-and-Drop installation) You can do so by going into it and deleting the “abdata” folder inside, but you probably want to leave this file here for reference later or in case there was a mistake and you need something from it. Don’t worry though, it’s easy enough to do! Just make sure you backup this file somewhere safe until you’re done with this guide. This is where your Discord installation comes from, so if you delete this, you’ll have to reinstall Discord again. Delete the “abdata” folder inside abdata*! If this is where it’s at, great! This is normal and you can move on to step 2. It should be in \Discord\app-0.0.297\abdata*.

Well, it should auto-reinstall if you delete this file, but if it doesn’t, here’s how to reinstall Discord after Better Discord is uninstalled. You need to reinstall Discord! Here’s how: Reinstalling Discord after Better Discord is uninstalled (manual installation) So you deleted the plugins folder and overwrote your abdata* file with the old one, but now Discord won’t open. Just Drag-and-Drop the file right back into Discord! It will ask you if you’re sure you want to overwrite this, just say yes and it’ll be gone! Uninstalling Better Discord directly in Discord (Dragging-and-Dropping installation) This is easy, just delete it! But make sure to keep another copy of it somewhere safe. You won’t be able to restore this file from your backup, Discord will make a new one on startup and you’ll have to re-install Better Discord (you can do it manually or Drag-and-Drop). Be sure to keep a backup of this somewhere because once you delete it, it’s gone forever unless you find it again. If you can find the plugins folder inside your abdata* file, good – remove it.

To get this abdata* you can search your computer for it or just use the manual way of installation! Either way, you’ll want to find this file on your computer. So, if you’re wanting to uninstall, what do you need? You’ll need two things: A backup of the original abdata* file that came with your copy of Discord (for reference), and an unzipping program like 7-Zip or WinRAR. Discord reads this file and uses the information inside to install Better Discord. Now both require an extra file – abdata*.

These plugins require Discord to still be installed, meaning you can’t remove them without removing Discord altogether. Just be aware that Discord has a few plugins that Better Discord doesn’t.
